We aim to provide high quality nursing and care staff, with suitable selections made by the
Branch Manager through interviews, testing and assessment.
We are very willing to train people to become healthcare workers, as we are an approved NVQ Centre.
We are also very happy to employ already trained nursing staff.
Induction
All new care staff are required to take part in a structured induction process. The content
includes criteria and underpinning knowledge, as defined by Skills for Care.
This induction is to be completed within the first six weeks of employment. Staff are required
to attend more detailed sessions, regarding Food Hygiene, Basic First Aid and Health and Safety to complete initial, minimum requirements.
Ongoing Training
Three months after registering, all new care workers meet the Staff Development Manager/Branch Manager
at their branch to discuss their personal training and development plan. This will be kept on file and updated at review meetings.
This plan review will be arranged every six months to ensure that staff development needs are being met and to identify any further training required.
Previous experience is accredited and noted on the plan. Copies of any certificates previously achieved
are placed in the individual's portfolio.
After 6 months service, Healthcare workers will be offered the opportunity to undertake training
for NVQ level 2. The cost of this will be £250, which covers the cost of registration and certification
with City & Guilds.
Criminal Records Bureau
All applicants are required to have two satisfactory references, (one must be from their current or last employer), before interview.
All workers will be required to have a Criminal Record Bureau Disclosure Check carried out before assignment.
All prospective workers should be aware that they will need to pay £34.00 for an enhanced disclosure, which will also check names on the POVA list.
Uniform
You will be required to wear a Professional Nursing uniform if you work on elderly wards or in Residential Homes.
The cost of the uniform is £15.00. This is payable before any assignments are allocated. You do
not have to wear a uniform for Mental Health or learning disability placements.
Immunisations
It is important that you provude evidence and dates of all immunisations against Tetanus, Polio
and T.B, also Varicella (Chicken Pox) if you have not had this as a child. You also need proof
of immunity to Hepatitis B and Rubella (German Measles). A letter will be required from your surgery
with proof of the immunity above. All proof of immunisations will be required before commencement of work in the hospitals.
For Domiciliary Care staff, Hepatitis B is the only required immunisation.
